A boy like this vol. 25

E-mail Print PDF

Chuck is 15 and has a single Mom.
Dad left when Chuck was 4, but lives in the same city and keeps in contact. Dad shows his love by buying Chuck expensive toys, like an MP3 player, Xbox and computer games. Dad did not have a good relationship with his father, and has poor parenting skills. Chuck spends a weekend each month with him, but their relationship is tense.

Mom, on the other hand, is strict with her son. If Chuck goes out, she wants to know with whom, who will drive, what time he is leaving and will return. She even asks for the phone number and address of the parents where he will be. Chuck rebels against her close supervision. He refuses to answer her questions and throws a temper tantrum, kicking furniture and punching walls. Mom believes Chuck’s behavior is irresponsible and out of control. Although Chuck is very intelligent, he is failing school.

Mom learned about Advent Home and enrolled Chuck, without telling him beforehand. Over the years, Advent Home has helped a number of boys like Chuck and their families.

Do you know boys with wealthy, hardworking parents who are too busy to spend time with their sons; who generously give their children money, gifts and material things, but not quality time or love; who have very high standards and want their son to be a lawyer, when he wants to be a mechanic?

If you do, we want to help them.
