Points provide a numeric value to indicate how well a student is doing on the Maturation Therapy® Curriculum. Each Thursday night, sheets are given out showing the weekly points students have earned or lost. Total points are also included, ranging from 70 – 350. Feedback, which coincides with the numbers, is provided regarding their strengths and areas that need improvement. Points represent the Staff’s collective judgment about a student’s behavior. They actually measure change, so we encourage our boys not to focus on numbers, but on positive growth. Progress comes through the following five levels: • Knowing, awareness • Growing, learning • Maturing, motivating • Achieving, performing • Restoration, mastery. What behavior generally causes students to lose points? They don’t do chores well, disrespect staff or walk off their job assignment. Earning points usually comes as boys become more reliable workers, require minimal supervision, go the extra mile and are helpful to others. Students should strive to change and grow in all areas—physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual. When they do, the points will follow! | ||||
