The faculty of Advent Home’s school is striving to ensure academic success for each of our students. A recent survey of AH parents by the E.A. Sutherland Education Association (EASEA) indicated high satisfaction with teachers and their methods. For example, 92% agree that students have access to a variety of learning resources; 88% believe students receive adequate help from school personnel; 92% agree that teachers are preparing students to continue education at more advanced levels and 96% believe teachers are helping their children grow spiritually. Striving for academic excellence, all faculty members have or are pursuing Master’s Degrees. Susan Mbaluka, who teaches English/Social Studies, has a Master’s in Curriculum Development and Instruction; Elsie Owens, Health instructor, is completing her Master’s in Public Health; Curtis Hinrichs, Science and Bible teacher, is pursuing a M.S. in Outdoor Education; Principal Claudia Gulfan and Math teacher Reggie Owens are both earning M.S. Degrees in Education Administration and Supervision. Teachers will also be able to enhance their instruction through a new online program which utilizes multimedia lessons to stimulate learning. Lessons can be customized to fit a student’s individual needs and pace—an ideal tool for our teachers as they work on bringing our remedial students up to grade level. With an accredited school, certified teachers and high expectations, AH students and their parents continue to look forward to outstanding academic achievements. | ||||
