Before they came to Advent Home, the Owens family were overseas missionaries. Upon returning to the US, they felt it was time to settle down for their children’s sake, but wanted to continue serving in a ministry.

While working at Advent Home has fulfilled these needs, the family currently faces a special challenge. “We know God led us to Advent Home, and we want to stay here permanently,” says Elsie. “However, the children are outgrowing the trailer we live in. It would be nice for them to have a secure home, with sufficient living space and their own rooms. Then they would feel less transient.”More and more families are expressing an interest in ministering at Advent Home. Their stability, experience and spirit of self-sacrifice are blessings to our ministry. However, our campus housing is currently unable to adequately meet the needs of growing children.With this in mind, construction plans have been drawn up for two comfortable, single-family residences to be built within the next year.
