In 1996, out of gratitude for their grandnephew’s changes at Advent Home, Donald & Barbara committed to helping develop our campus. Barbara’s passion was for a quality school building so Advent Home could serve more boys like her grandnephew.Since 1997, the Barbara Cox Learning Center has been fulfilling those dreams.

The expansion to the school, also funded by the Cox family, will increase our school by two classrooms, offices, a library and a multi-purpose meeting room.Sadly, Barbara will not be at the dedication in early 2007. She passed away in July this year, survived by her husband Donald and her children Mary, Martha and Harold. Advent Home extends heartfelt condolences to Barbara’s family. Though she will not see its completion, the Barbara Cox Learning Center will stand as a constant reminder of her caring and generosity. How many lives have already been touched? It’s hard to say...one of our graduates is a fourth-year pre-med student at Andrews University; another is practicing dentistry in Maryland; a third is doing his MBA at the University of Miami, Florida. These stories are all part of the ripple effect of the tremendous gift Donald and Barbara gave to Advent Home. Thank you.
