Page 1 of 2 Holidays. How many of us can say that we look forward to them without reservation? We enjoy the thought of spending quality time with our family,
but too often we end up getting trapped in the hype that surrounds the holiday instead. In spite of our better judgment, we give in to the pressure for MORE - more gifts, costing more money that we don’t have, taking more time for shopping out of our already crowded schedules. Then there are the bigger and better family events, though we’re already overcommitted, and we know how foolish it is to put Aunt Linda and Uncle Barry in the same room again! What about the late nights and large quantities of junk food, which jeopardize our health? And let’s not forget how we fall prey to materialism and ‘fun’, when what we really want are deeper experiences: connecting with our loved ones, and enjoying spiritual and physical refreshment.Unfortunately, we do get ‘more’, don’t we? More disappointment when things don’t measure up to our unrealistic expectations, more fights with the people we care most about, more debts, more headaches and more pounds on our hips!
